FCDA was in the forefront of putting together information that was passed along to Congress that helped preserve Community Development Block Grant and HOME funding, shaped U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) policy and averted HUD’s elimination from the President’s Cabinet in the early 1990’s.  The Association continues to participate in responses to HUD, particularly about Florida concerns about community and economic development issues.  As we increase our Association numbers our strength increases as well, and we actively seek to continue to work r with organizations that have similar interests on the important and relevant topics impacting community and economic development.   We will also continue to promote excellence in the administration and implementation of community development programs as a key part of preserving these important resources. Part of this commitment to our members includes our striving to be the leader in providing practical training to community development practitioners. We will also recognize leadership, distinguished service, and excellence through the James E. Huger Award and the Florida Community Development Award.
